Two US soldiers killed, one missing after Iranian attack in Jordan

On Friday, an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan killed two American soldiers and left one missing. The announcement brought the death toll in the conflict to 16. The attack prompted a retaliatory strike from the United States on Saturday night, ordered by President Donald Trump.
The attack was aimed at reducing Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack was also intended to punish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for attacking US troops in Jordan. The attack came after Iran announced its closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the closure of US ports.
