Two Cambodian workers suspected of dying after fishing boat sinks in Trat province, search continues
Two Cambodian workers are suspected of dying after a fishing boat sank in the sea off Trat province, Thailand, as rescue teams continue to search for the missing victims.
According to Mr. Loeng Sophon, a migrant workers' rights protection project officer in Thailand at CENTRAL, on July 20, 2026, Thai authorities have so far found the bodies of a total of three fishing workers, two of whom are Cambodian.
According to the same statement, the fishing boat had been out fishing at sea since June 28, 2026, and had lost contact since July 10, 2026. After losing contact, Thai authorities launched a search operation in the sea, but so far, there are still several people who have not been found.
Rescue teams and relevant authorities are continuing to search for bodies and missing people in the sea, while the exact cause of the sinking is under investigation. Authorities have not yet officially released the identities of all the victims.
