Police clarify the case of arresting a man in Prek Pno district
Phnom Penh: The Phnom Penh Municipal Police Department has issued a statement after a woman posted on social media that authorities had arrested her husband for no reason in Prek Pno District. According to the information and rapid response team, the arrest was made at 11:30 a.m. on July 17, 2026, in front of house number LB12, street 62, in Borey Phum Samrong, Sangkat Prek Pno, Prek Pno District, Phnom Penh. The arrested man is named Chao Sovichet, alias Sary Sovichet, alias So, born in 1987, a Cambodian national. Authorities confirmed that the arrest was made pursuant to arrest warrant number 253 O.Y.K. dated June 26, 2026, issued by the prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in connection with charges of fraud and breach of trust. The operation was carried out while the Prek Pno District Administrative Command was conducting administrative work and collecting statistics in the area of the suspect’s home. The man is currently under temporary detention at the Light Criminal Police Office to continue legal proceedings.
