Thai naval authorities have denied reports circulating on social media and some media outlets claiming that a Thai-flagged cargo ship was attacked by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy in the Strait of Hormuz on July 18, 2026.

A Thai navy spokesman said that after coordinating with the Vessel Traffic Monitoring Center and relevant authorities, they verified that the vessel shown in the news was not a Thai-flagged vessel.

The Thai Navy also confirmed that there is currently only one Thai cargo ship operating in the Gulf of Oman, and inspections have shown that all ships and crew are safe and continuing to sail normally.

However, as military tensions in the Middle East continue, the Thai Navy has called on shipping companies and vessels traveling through the Strait of Hormuz to exercise extreme caution and avoid risky areas if not necessary.
